Yahoo MapMixer lets you Mashup Maps

Yahoo’s new MapMixer tools enables you to combine two different maps together and share the result as a grouped map.

Below you can see a map of San Francisco overlayed with a map of the Golden Gate National Park.

With MapMixer, you could easily combine property maps, Thomas brother maps, housing statistics for an area or a map showing all the restaurants in a city with personal ratings. Or say you wanted to demonstrate how an area has changed over time you could overlay a historical map with a current map.

One of the things I am going to look at doing is combining a MLS area map with a yahoo map so my members can quickly search and determine if a property is in a particular area or not this is particularly useful in areas such as Alameda where we have multiple MLS area codes. What I find really interesting about this tool is how you can easily adjust the transparency of the overlayed map creating a really effective tool for demonstrating landmarks, services, or even points of interest.

Whatever you decide to do Map Maker makes it easy, you just upload a map and choose a couple of common points the maps can properly align. So what would you use such a tool for? Or if you are using it already please share some maps.
